 Services Offered
- Group Therapy – A unique group therapy approach for children ages 2 to 10 years that emphasizes social skills and self-regulation. Training and support for parents/caregivers is included as part of the group therapy program.
- Developmental Evaluation – A comprehensive assessment of a child’s development using standardized measures including adaptive, cognitive and achievement measures. Referrals are often made to assess ADHD, Autism or other developmental concerns.
- Individual Play Therapy – Children express themselves through play. It is the natural language of children. Play therapy provides a safe environment for children to manage trauma and stress, learn effective coping strategies, and to remove obstacles to their development.
- Parent/Child Therapy – Parents receive in-vivo guidance in their play interactions with their child. Emphasis on fostering a parent-child relationship that promotes communication, intimacy, and self-esteem.
- Consultation with School and Daycare Programs – On-site visits to observe a child in their familiar environment. Teacher training is also available to schools/daycare centers.
- Parent Training (Coaching) – A non-therapy service that gives parents specific guidance with regard to parenting issues.
- Screening Evaluation – Testing required for admission to many area private schools (WPPSI-III).
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – Dr. Forrester provides EMDR, a treatment of choice for trauma. Please call for more information. Information is also available via the EMDR Institute.
- Post-Adoption Group – Multi-Family groups for individuals/couples post-adoption. Emphasis is on providing education and support as well as guidance in nurturing attachment between the child and family.
- Adoption Education – A non-therapy service that provides education and guidance for parents on adoption related issues.
- Divorce Support Group for Children – A small group environment designed to assist children in managing the stress and turmoil often associated with the separation/divorce of their parents.
- Adoption Support Group for Children – A small group environment designed to assist children in managing complex emotions and learn options for handling intrusive questions.
- Student / Intern Services – Dr. Forrester provides training to students in mental health related fields. Students/Interns provide services to clients at a reduced rate and are supervised by Dr. Forrester. These services cannot be charged to insurance yet are offered at a substantial discount.
