Dr. Forrester received her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 1993. She completed her post-doctoral training at the Early Childhood Center in the Department of Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and at the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Forrester came to Houston in 1995 where she originated the Early Childhood Programs at the Learning Support Center for Child Psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital. She directed a variety of services for young children and families including group therapy, individual play therapy, family therapy, parent training and a teacher training program for preschool teachers and early childhood specialists. In addition to the clinical programs for young children and families, Dr. Forrester also created an intensive training program for graduate level trainees in Psychology, Social Work and Counseling. During her tenure at Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Forrester was on the Medical Staff of Texas Children’s Hospital and held appointments at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, The University of Houston Department of psychology and Smith College of Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts. Dr. Forrester is research certified in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and was on the Autism assessment team at Texas Children’s Hospital.
